A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
Brendan and Kara met while volunteering at a blood bank.
Brendan thought Kara was kinda cute, and Kara thought Brendan was kinda tall, but otherwise, they ignored each other for a while. Then one day, Kara looked up and noticed that Brendan was kinda cute too. She said
“You should take me out sometime…”
Brendan promptly continued to ignore Kara. Then, sometime later, Brendan had a great epiphany, and realized that maybe, he and Kara should go out sometime. He said “Would you like to get some sushi…?”
Kara said “Yes…No…Maybe…I don’t know…”
Somehow (no one really knows how), the two began dating, and had a nearly normal, albeit nerdy, relationship for a few months. Then, Brendan left for grad school in Gainesville, and Kara went to the vastly superior FSU to learn to be a science geek.
They didn’t really have anything better to do, so some weekends, Kara drove to see Brendan, and some weekends Brendan drove to see Kara. It went like this for about two and a half years, when Brendan graduated and moved to Jacksonville, but by this point, they had realized that they kinda liked each other, so they just kept the driving bit up for a while.
Jealous that Kara was still in school geeking it up (but already two ahead on the diploma count), Brendan saw the light and returned to FSU for some more torture education. They ate ice cream together, and their cars got a much needed break.
Kara upped the nerd ante by starting med school, so Brendan, not to be outdone, decided to be a rocket scientist, and moved four hours away to Cape Canaveral to do so. The presence of rockets made Brendan even cuter to Kara.
(Commence driving)
Then he gave Kara a sparkly ring, she said yes, and just as she was moving to Daytona (within striking distance of the Cape), Brendan skipped off to Maryland, where there is snow. Kara, not a fan of snow, stayed in the sunshine state a bit longer, practicing her mad doctoring skills on the beach, yet she impressively never achieved anything even remotely resembling a tan.
Kara reached a point in her medical training where she would have to move somewhere to pursue her dream of cutting people, so she figured she might as well chase down Brendan.
And so finally, after nine years, an estimated 25,200 miles of driving, 43,800 miles on Southwest Airlines (for which Kara’s dad’s 401K is grateful), and 84,000 cell phone minutes, the planets have aligned, and
